This backpack trip occurs in the Sierra National Forest which is between Yosemite and Sequioa National Park. It is one of the first trips mentioned in the Sierra South 6th Edition. The trail head is roughly between Lake Florence and Lake Edison.
Lake Italy Trip
The trail head was located above Bear Division Dam at the end of a two-and-a-half to three mile 4WD road. Tad, shown here at the trail head, enjoyed doing some real 4WD.
